Facelift an Old Design

I have a pattern called "Both a Blessing".  It's been a very good seller for me, the saying being its most appealing attribute.
Recently I had an epiphany to update this pattern using modern fabrics.  Here is how that went.  I previewed a grey as my background.
But I ended up going with a script fabric.  This background fabric is exclusive to Sewing Party.  A treasure of a quilt shop in Laguna Hills California specializing in modern fabrics.
The color palate was way outside of my comfort zone.  I had to consult with my two bff's (Laurene and Susan) who are very familiar with the modern style.  Thanks girls!
Here is the finished result prior to quilting.
Yes, the saying is a little more difficult to read but I had a great time remaking this design.
Enjoy your weekend, maybe take a moment to give a facelift to an old friend.

What I'ma Workin on Wednesday

Show time baby!  I have two weeks to get two back to back shows ready.  So today I'm restocking kits.  Like these Tin Pan pincushion kits which I only sell at the shows.
My wool order came in so there will be tearing, folding and pricing happening.
I have designed a new little framed stitchery and I'm putting kits together for this little Harvest Blessing.
I can't possibly sew all my goodies myself.  Here is a shipment I just got in of pincushions.  This adorable little snowbuddy...
 and corduroy kitty cat
Toots Adorbs!  Meanwhile I have my own pincushions to sew.  Today pies are on the menu, we will have blueberry, cherry and strawberry.

It's a Share Day

I don't know about you, but when I have one of my sewing group meetings, I start preparing for it in advance.  I look forward to the sewing almost as much as the camaraderie.  This Thursday I wasn't able to attend my Sup n Sew group but luckily Beverly forwarded me pictures of the night.  I missed out on Sheri's Taco salad...
Blondie Brownies (home made yum!!)
and hand sewing redwork embroidery.  I don't have a tape recording of the conversation but I can guess that I missed out on quite a bit.
I met a lady at Long Beach who had purchased one of my table runner patterns.  She showed me her pictures of it on her iPad.  Wow was I impressed.  She had used glow in the dark thread and over stitched a ghost design onto the runner.
Paula had also changed the applique' and added a kitty to one end of the runner.  Thank you so much Paula for sending me a picture of your version of my table runner design.  I love it!

My Booth

This is my last post regarding Long Beach.  I had taken some booth photos and thought I would share.  As you can see from these, I bring a lot more finished goods to the shows than is available on my website.
Becca's Bouquet was one of my top sellers.  I know I'm not the first to say that these Modern fabrics are quite popular with primitive people as well as the rest of the quilters.
What a jam packed booth!  Maybe I need to filter myself sometimes?
My Batik packs were a last minute addition to the show and I came home with Zero!!
The quilt in the background was also a very good seller, its my baby quilt with bonus announcement pillow, again in those Modern fabrics.
The Lori Holt quilt "Quilter's World" is always a favorite.  I've done mine in more primitive colors but that does not detract from Lori's original design.
OK, this little cutie is Payton, a fellow vendors granddaughter.  She came by with mom and fell in love with one of Mary's dolls.
And we all fell in love with Payton.  I will have more dolls at the San Diego show, next month.
Excuse me while I'm busy getting more product together for the next series of shows.  This is really the busiest time of the year for quilters.

The Show's Over

Honey I'm Home!  The Long Beach International Quilt Festival wrapped up yesterday and what a week.  So great seeing customers and blog followers that I have only "seen" virtually.  The vendors were so great and what can I say about the quilts.  Want to see a few?  Here are just a few of my favorites to start this week off with...
Flowers in Memory of Chris by Pat Adair
Forest Intrigues by Caroline Vroom
Late Autumn by Hiromi Yokota
One of my favorites if not my favorite quilt.

Christmas Song for You by Hiromi Yokota

I will post many more this week so come back and see the rest of the show, including booth photos.
